Prayer Letter May 2016
Friends of SAGOS in Christ, Greetings!
On April 17 my wife and I attended the vision sharing and thanksgiving dinner celebrating the 2nd anniversary of the inauguration of Canada SAGOS. Thank God, in the short span of 2 years, the Canada office has held many meetings on the “Ten-step Bible study Method” and “Expositional Preaching”, enabling many to grow in the knowledge of God’s word; in addition, many preaching co-workers and seminary students witnessed a lifting of their ability to preach in an expositional fashion.
The 2nd anniversary thanksgiving dinner was shared by 480 guests spreading among 48 tables, and among them were nearly 80 preaching co-workers and seminary students. It has far exceeded our expectations! On that evening, I shared a message on the topic “An Unique Kind of Satisfaction – Eating of Scrolls”, Executive Director Rev. Tsang also shared the vision, and the most memorable happening was that there were 6 co-workers receiving “Ten-step Bible Study Method Certified Teacher” certificate. They are, respectively, Rev. Galahad Cheung, Rev. Michael Tsang, Rev. Joseph Wong, Dr. William Tsui, Rev. Stephen Lan and Brother C. T. Chan. Their accomplishments added to the continuation of SAGOS ministry.
On April 9 – 10, Rev. Lai lectured on “The Song of Songs” in the Bay Area (9 hours, total attendance 80 people). On April 13 – 20, while attending the 2nd anniversary of Canada SAGOS, he also led “Ten-step certified teachers training” (total 5 persons), “Expositional Preaching” test preaching training (total 9 pastors), and led Bible Study Day Camp in Mississauga Logos Baptist Church (total 80 people). April 22-24 he led a spiritual edification meeting in Wilmington Lord’s Grace Church in the East Coast. The last week of April, he taught “expositional preaching” classes in a church in Milwaukee, total attendee 18 people, who are co-workers from the church and from 3 neighboring areas with pulpit responsibilities.
Rev. Robert Shen, Sister Eva Leung, and Rev. Michael Tsang led the May 1 – 13 “Holy land spiritual study tour” (attendees over 60 people). May the Lord lead every body, keeping them safe and reap fruitful results. On May 27-30 Rev. William Ho will lead a summer camp in Chicago Chinese Fellowship Church, the topic is “I love the church of my Lord”. Mrs. Lai has led twice at SAGOS office “Ten-step study of the Book of Colossians” leaders training (April 2, 23), with about 15 students each time from 10 different churches, and there will be one more class in 5/14. Furthermore, between April and May there will be a forum on “Ten-step Bible study of the Book of Galatians” at the Crosspoint Chinese Church, with average attendance 12 people in April, and 13 for the May class.
Co-worker at large, Rev. Seahawk Lun led an “Expositional Preaching” seminar in Hong Kong. The responses from the attendees include: ‘excited’, ‘jump for joy’, ‘substantial’, ‘happy’, ‘thankfulness’, etc. Elder Winston Shu, our volunteer director for the Southern Region, will lead a BS camp on the Book of Isaiah in Darmstadt, Germany, on May 25 – 29. Before then, Elder and Mrs. Shu will visit many Bible study groups in Southern Germany. Please pray for them.
The book “Thanksgiving and Passing of the Baton – the Blessed Journey that SAGOS travelled” is already published. This book included articles and testimonies published by SAGOS over the last 13 years. It also has many photos to enrich the content.
Please continue to pray and give thanks for the following:
- Thank God for the completion of the lectures on “Song of Songs” held in the Bay Area.
- The 2nd anniversary of Canada SAGOS inauguration banquet held in Toronto went smooth.
- The surgery of the Canada SAGOS ministry director Mrs. Tsang went well. Pray for her follow-up treatment and recovery.
- Pray for the “Holyland Study Tour” on 5/1 – 13, for health and protection of the lecturers, leaders and attendees along the way.
- The book “Thanksgiving and Passing of the Baton” is published. You are welcomed to ask for a copy.
May your strength grow in the presence of the Lord!
